2nd Annual Streamy Awards Effort

Nominate Your Favorite Shows for a Streamy Award!
What’s a Streamy Award & How to Vote

What are the Streamy Awards?

The Streamy Awards ceremony is an annual awards show that honors excellence in web television. Although the names are similar, they are NOT associated with theStream.tv.  They are currently accepting nominations for this year’s ceremony.

How do I help my favorite theStream.tv shows?

You can make one submission per category EACH DAY here:

http://www.streamys.org/submit/public-submissions/

This means, that if your favorite show is Filmnut, you can potentially submit it for EACH CATEGORY LIST everyday until the submission period ends.

How often should I submit?

If you have time to submit daily, then that would help your show the most. Other web series have INSANE fans that are doing this every day.  So this will let us know how crazy our fans our in comparison.

Does theStream.tv have any official recommendations?

You should coordinate with your favorite about what categories they are focusing on.  The discussion forums for all shows can be found here:
http://www.thestream.tv/forum

Otherwise, you may use these recommendations and submit each show once a day.

Wrap: Comic Steve Byrne

We funnied it up with witty and offensively handsome comedian Steve Byrne and a special guest!

Steve Byrne

Watch this show, it’s good for you. www.thestream.tv

This was our last show of the year (awwwww) and we did it with two out of three regulars (Jessie was out “sick”; ugly rumors had her nursing a violent and durable post-birthday hangover). The very capable and not at all hung over Martini Beerman did IM duties for the night, and has so far escaped with only minimal psychological damage.

Martini

Well, if your surname is "Beerman", you pretty much have to live the part. Martini models her beverage of choice.

With our crew thus assembled, we launched right into the comedy. Because that’s what we likes to do and it sure beats slinging burgers for a living. Stu got things started by possibly offending yet another state in our great Union, trotting out his impersonation of “Jersey Guy”. We also might have ticked off a few cars by showing controversial pictures from John and Stu’s visit to the LA Auto Show in our first bit, “Car Show, Yo“. Okay, maybe not controversial, unless you’re offended by Our Host’s white gangsta posing in front of various bland automobiles. Really, Stu, you should act more appropriately around generic, mass-produced vehicles.

Once we were done with the cars, it was time for the guests. The main Occupier of Guest Chair was comedian Steve Byrne, fast ascending the various Mounts Olympus of the comedy world (The Tonight Show, an HBO special, USO tours, etc.). Steve is of mixed Korean and Irish DNA, and Stu asked if his upbringing or ancestry had anything to do with his choice of joke telling as a profession. No, actually it was because working as a grunt at a comedy club was the only job he could get in New York back in his lean days. How’s that for destiny?

Steve n Stu

One of these two guys is actively entertaining the audience. Can you guess which? (hint: it's probably not Stu)

We then launched into the really deep, philosophical questions, from both Stu and the chat room, like “do you ever get mistaken for Jon of Jon & Kate Plus 8? (answer: no, because Steve’s in decent shape and actually has talent). The interview built to a rousing crescendo with the nail-biting game show segment of the evening, “Korean Or Irish Proverb”? The studio audience could barely keep to their seats as Steve desperately groped for answers (actually, maybe that was because of all the energy drink they overdosed on). Amazingly, such dissimilar cultures as Korea and Ireland seem to produce the same variety of homespun wisdom about cattle carts and hungry mice, so Steve barely squeaked by with a win, answering a bare minimum of the queries correctly.

We had another burning question for him, being the smart and good looking entertainer he is. How, oh how, would he ask our fetchingly attractive producer LV out on a date? Looking into the camera, he deadpanned “show me some respect”. Aha, now that’s how showbiz types get the ladies. Boys, are you taking notes?

Steve n Stu II

Stu finally figures out the difference between Korea and Ireland, while Steve acts convincingly impressed.

Steve was only getting warmed up. He was so overjoyed at his victory in the proverb quiz, he started dry-humping the host desk. Never let it be said that we don’t make an effort to please our guests. Or our studio props, come to think of it.

We still have it in us to entertain the old fashioned way, though, and to prove it we brought out our special guest, actress Danielle Bisutti. The very tuneful Danielle sang a few numbers with John, closing the show with a nice hit or two of music.

John n Danielle

John shows us a little leg. And he's not even drunk yet! Don't feed him any beer, whatever you do.

The two harmonizers also closed out our 2009. It was a hell of a year, and we’re glad even the host desk got some action out of it. Who knows which props will be propositioned in 2010; tune in to find out. We’re back in mid-January, so enjoy your holidays and New Year while we’re getting our R&R. And good luck hitting on that furniture.

The internet is evil and a waste of time! Except for our show’s home at www.thestream.tv

Wrap: Sex Rehab’s Phil Varone and Jeff and Greg Burns from NCIS

We got musical with drummer Phil Varone, fresh from his stint on VH1’s Sex Rehab. From elsewhere in TV land we welcomed award-winning composers Jeff and Greg Burns from TV’s #1 show, NCIS.

Burns brothers

Watch this show on www.theStream.tv

If you’ve seen at least one Live! From the Future episode, you know by now just how much we like music. Appropriately for our tastes, we had a trio of musical guests this episode – twin TV composers Jeff and Greg Burns, and drummer/standup comedian Phil Varone.

Phil.Stu

Shocking though it may be, Phil and Stuart still use less combined hair product than Bret Michaels.

Before the troika settled into the guest chairs, we naturally had to celebrate the great December holiday. No, not Christmas, silly. December 8 is Jessie Schneiderman’s birthday, of course! So we celebrated in exuberant yet severely budget-constrained style by showering her with balloons and booze… bad idea.

Don't drink kids. This...

Down goes #4! Don't drink kids... because this...

Jessie.Preggers

... can lead to this. (*10 minutes after her shots, she was 9 months pregnant.)

The brothers Burns were up first, and they brought Jessie – whoops, the show – a special present. The two somehow found time in their busy schedule to score a clip from LFTF. We like challenging our guests, so the clip we provided was of Current TV’s Conor Knighton demonstrating how to properly arrange a paper toilet seat liner.

Jeff.Greg.Stu

What you can't see in this picture is that the beard in only on one half of his face, while his brother has half a beard on the other side.

One segment that might have a fighting chance is “Prog Rock or NCIS Episode“. This thrilling, down-to-the-wire quiz tests deep entertainment knowledge and reveals just how much time a person wasted getting high as a teenager and listening to ponderous old music.

The brothers nearly took a fall on that one, saving themselves at the last moment by identifying a Genesis album.

This guy is the Cat's Pajamas

Missing: One hunky guitar player and my summer blue polo shirt.

We didn’t torture the brothers enough with inane questions, so we also put them through our patented “59 Second Gauntlet“. Jeff and Greg were more successful at that one, getting all the way through past the final question, the all-time stumper “my career is like breakfast because ________?”

Next up was Phil Varone, an old friend of the show (read: “person who’s crazy enough to do this thing more than once”). Phil’s getting a lot of attention these days thanks to his current stint on Sex Rehab with celebrity brain fixer Dr. Drew Pinsky.

Stu.Phil2

After getting out of Sex Rehab, Phil explained why his wrist has been cramping up.

When not recovering from his sex problem, Phil finds time to do standup and play drums, not necessarily in that order. He couldn’t resist dropping a plug for his upcoming hosting gig at LA’s Improv, where he’ll be introducing the Sex, Stand Up and Rock & Roll show.

Jessie.John.Singing

Happy Birthday Jessie... You're the Best-y... (real lyrics).

Unlike his fellow musicians the Burns twins, Phil didn’t quite make it through his edition of “59 Second Gauntlet”. Perhaps it was that one missing second that threw him. Either way, we still like him, and we’ll happily have him on as a guest again. As long as he isn’t too busy chatting with Oprah, that is.

Wrap: Musetta Vander and the Hillenbrand brothers from Transylmania!

We give thanks for vampires, 800 year old Romanian castles and our guests, actress Musetta Vander and directors Scott and David Hillenbrand of the upcoming horror comedy feature, Transylmania.

Musetta

See this episode – in color! – at www.theStream.tv

As anyone in Los Angeles will tell you, Halloween in this city stretches pretty far past October 31. For us, it’s lasted well into Thanksgiving, as we hosted a troika of guests from the soon-to-be-released vampire spoof, Transylmania - in theaters December 4th, 2009.

LIVE_Transylmania

Directors Scott and David Hillenbrand, actress Musetta Vander, Stuart Paap, Andrea Ball and Stu’s special friend, John “mall pose” Fulton.

We did kowtow a little to the current holiday. We effected this in true, grand LIVE! From the Future… style with Stu venting about the worst Thanksgiving side dishes ever. His candidates? Yams with those ugly little wet marshmallows.

LIVE_Andrea.IM
Andrea Ball (andreaball.com) gets ready to take some live Instant Messages in her “Beat It” edition jacket. Smooth, criminal baby!

Our IM Girl for the evening, the lovely and vivacious Andrea Ball (substituting for Jessie Schneiderman), volunteered green beans as her least favorite side dish, and LFTF’s musical director, John Fulton, piped up that he hated cranberry sauce. Communist! At least that’s what I think he said; honestly, nobody pays him any attention when he’s not playing music.

LIVE_JohnFulton
John Fulton, the new spokesman for “Midnight Von Douche”
LIVE_Jared.Greenhouse
Jared “I brought the tripods and legal releases” Greenhouse shows us his one-handed technique.

Subsequent to this discussion, we welcomed Musetta Vander, one of the stars of Transylmania, who plays vampire hunter Teodora van Sloan (which, coincidentally, is also the name of John Fulton’s transvestite lounge singer alter ego).

LIVE_Musetta
Actress Musetta Vander, aka “Teodora Van Sloan” from the new comedy feature “Transylmania” talks about Zip Lining from a castle, training with knives and the countless ways she could punish Stu.

Cheerful Musetta talked about her experiences on the (freezing cold Romanian) set of Transylmania, which included delivering her lines in an Eastern European accent (hot!), taking sword fighting lessons for a month (er, not that kind of sword fighting), and training in martial arts.

LIVE_Musetta.Desk
Musetta Vander sharpens her fingers as she prepares to stab Stu in the neck – vampire-style.

Then it was time for Musetta to play: “Ikea or Romanian Town?” Thanks to our little quiz, Musetta is now well acquainted with the best cheap pillowcases the Swedes have to offer, and the countless Romanian towns that no one can pronounce. Who says you don’t learn anything on our show?

John tries to convince Andrea that women actually like his sweater.
John tries to convince Andrea that some women actually like his sweater.

Next up were Musetta’s former bosses, Scott and David Hillenbrand, the directors of Transylmania. Scott and David have tag-teamed for over half a dozen movies, including National Lampoon Presents: Dorm Daze, and their collaboration reaches back far in the past – they’ve been making films together since childhood.

LIVE_Stu.Scott.David
Scott and David Hillenbrand listen unenthusiastically to Stu’s movie pitches, inlcuding: “Octopus Outfielder: the life and times of Duke McNutts”, “Tardball”, the unofficial sequel to Dodgeball and “Earnest goes to Hometown Buffet”, the proposed 15th installment of the beloved “Earnest goes to…” series.

We tested just how strong those bonds really are by putting the brothers through our notorious “59 Second Gauntlet” (formerly the “60 Second Gauntlet”, now shaved for budgetary reasons). Scott fired off a few quick and theoretically correct answers, but David struggled to come up with a meaningful comeback or two – one stumper was, “Biggest jerk in high school?” Might I propose example “A” below?

LIVE_John.Fulton
John Fulton was a bouncer at LL Bean.

Wow, all that questioning and zip lining and Ikea catalog itemizing really made us hungry. We’re gonna feast for a few days, then we’ll see you at the usual time next Tuesday for a fresh new show. Until then, happy Thanksgiving from all of us LFTFers. Pass the yams and marshmallows, will ya?

WRAP: Danielle Bisutti from True Jackson, VP

Stu tries to host a clean show (PG-13 at best) with Danielle Bisutti of Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP.

danielle

Maybe it is easy being green. See this episode at www.theStream.tv

It’s not often that Live! From the Future… hosts a guest who appears in a kid-friendly TV show. Danielle Bisutti, one of the stars of Nickelodeon’s teen fashion sitcom True Jackson, VP, stopped by for a little good clean (mostly clean) fun.

Stu.Danielle.Balls

Danielle explains exactly how she’s gonna grab this show.

Stu and John made subtle yet oily suggestive comments about Jessie’s wet hair, acquired from a quick shower after a late encounter at Bar Method.

Jessie.Sexy

Jessie shows her patented hair tousling technique. Chat roomers passed out in short order.

Our Host somehow got over the heavy breathing long enough to interview the lovely, kelly green-clad Danielle. We talked about her show, now striding along in its second season – thank you very much – and the production thereof.

Danielle.Stu.Secret

Danielle.Laughing

Laughy.Laugh

Stu and Danielle Bisutti having good clean fun sharing filthy stories. I’M KIDDING! – (it wasn’t fun).

Danielle was born into the business; this self professed “theater geek” had very early memories of live TV, sitting in the studio audience for a taping of Mork and Mindy (Nanu Nanu!) She also loves the Godfather, which was good because, from now on, we bring everyone on by kissing Stu’s ring. See examples A and B.

Stu.Ring.1

Stu.Ring.2

Danielle “Corleone’s” her way on to the show. R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

Danielle’s been acting professionally for a while, appearing on Two and a Half Men, Dharma and Greg and Without a Trace. On True Jackson, VP, she plays Amanda, a viperish corporate type forever trying to foil the heroine of the title. Our chatties were curious about Danielle’s experience in this and other shows, and saved us from descending further into R-rated murk with good questions about her career. One of the most pertinent ones was, “Will Amanda ever bust out in song?”

John.Danielle.Sing

John.Danielle.Sing2

John.Danielle.Sing3

Song lovers rejoice – Danielle had some serious pipes.

Danielle is a fine singer. She accompanied John on a new song: “At Least You’re Home By 8:30″ and “Check It.”

Danielle’s also pretty good at answering quizzes. On the infamous Ikea or Social Networking Site?, our guest nailed most of the 10 questions to take home the magnificent prize (i.e. gratitude for enduring the bit).

Danielle.Smiling

Danielle ponders: “Is ‘Nujij’ an Ikea Product or a Social Networking Site?”

Then Danielle also nearly made it through all queries in our one-minute, think-fast Gauntlet, managing to keep her porn star name a secret (inappropriate!) but revealing that she’d rather date Sinatra than Elvis (even if he was the young, skinny Elvis? Really, Danielle?)

John.True.Feelings.LV

John shows his true feeling about LV. Scandal!

John.Cool.2

John.Cool.Shot

Johnny Fulron broadcasts only #1 hits.

Stu and Danielle brought the interview to a close by giving away gifts of intrinsic emotional value such as a book by Stu’s friend and a DVD. On the subject of intrinsic emotional value, Stu also screened a sneak preview of his relentlessly flogged web series, Hurtling Through Space At An Alarming Rate.

Hurtling!

Check out a new episode every Monday on Babelgum.com/htsaaar

Group.Shot

Clearly, one of these kids knows which camera is on.

After the sneak, Danielle joined John for a special duet of The Fresh’s classic, “Two Buck Chuck”. But again, this was meant to be clean entertainment, so the duo modified the lyrics to sing about the benefits of cheap wine at family Thanksgivings. With that, we managed to once again escape the sharp eye of the Motion Picture Association of America and score only a mild R rating (or PG-13 if you’re optimistic) for this episode.

Will we succeed in doing so next week? Doubtful – our guests include several vampires. Tune in next week for more… we probably won’t be very PG-13 in that one.

WRAP: Mitch Fatel and Gary Cannon!

Tuesday, November 10 2009 – we were drenched in comedy and biological fluids with standups Mitch Fatel and Gary Cannon.

Mitch

Feast your eyes – and other organs – on this episode at www.theStream.tv

This episode’s recurring theme was comedy comedy COMEDY, as we hosted the dangerous twin-barreled standup tandem of Mitch Fatel and Gary Cannon.

Mitch.Stu.Laughing.Hard

Mitch.Gary.Lauging

(Had we been drinking, someone would have gotten seriously hurt)

Before our esteemed guests took their chairs, we read a letter from one viewer in Florida, who asked why, oh why, does Stu find it necessary to mock and insult that great state’s capitol city, Tallahassee? Nothing personal, Anonymous Letter Writer, Stu just hates the place with an unreasonable and bitter passion.

John.Jessie

John and Jessie warm up their pipes… and their vocal chords.

On a more positive note, the second episode of the Stu-starring web series Hurtling Through Space At An Alarming Rate has debuted, and our Host tried to prove it by showing a clip from the webisode. Which would have been a lot of fun, except the clip got truncated at about the 1.3 second mark.

Hurtling!

Check out a new episode every Monday on Babelgum.com/htsaaar) (*Note: Stu wrote the November 16th episode – The Planet of eventually exploding timebombs of calamitous proportions)

Back here in sunny, gulag-free Los Angeles, Mitch arrived with a whole bunch of swag, namely DVDs and CDs of his appearances.

He also arrived with a special lodging request – permission to fall asleep on Jessie’s lady business.

Mitch.Vagina.Sleep

Mitch, demonstrating his sleeping technique on Gary Cannon’s “hand-gina”

Jessie.Mitch2

Payoff: Mitch, finally making good on his end of the bargain to sleep where babies are made. Jessie, happily obliges. Team player, Jessie!

In addition to helping Mitch satisfy the Jessie request, we also extracted a few juicy road stories from the ever-touring comedians, such as the time Mitch heroically accepted a sloppy seconds BEEJ in a San Jose green room.

Mitch.Tongue

Mitch explains exactly how the accommodating young San Jose resident replaced her tongue ring after personally thanking both Gary and Mitch for a good show. Ah, the road.

John Fulton was on fire this night, playing so fast, he literally became a blur.

Wrap 2: Nicolas Wright/Andrea Abbate AND Leyna Weber/Hal B. Klein

Election day last Tuesday and we voted in a DOUBLE SHOW !

The 1st show was @8PM, and featured 2 guests: A) sitcom writer Andrea Abbate and B) actor Nicolas Wright, both from CBS’s hit comedy “Accidentally on Purpose” – (Mondays at 8:30 on CBS).

Watch Nicolas Wright and Andrea Abbate on www.theStream.tv

And our 2nd show was @9PM, and featured thriller-dancing thespian Leyna Weber and culinary-enthusiast/history-nerd actor Hal B. Klein!

1Leyna

Watch Leyna Weber and Hal B.Klein on www.theStream.tv!

25% of the night’s guests was our first: comedy writer Andrea Abbate. Andrea works on the truly hilarious new CBS sitcom “Accidentally on Purpose” starring Jenna Elfman. Watch it after “How I met your mother” and then, just don’t leave the couch. “2 1/2 men” comes on after “Accidentally” and there’s your night!

Stu.AndreaStu smiles through his botox while comedy writer Andrea Abbate waits patiently.

Stu grilled her mercilessly about her experiences on the show and the live chat room followed suit (we are a live and interactive show), but the most compelling question from the chatties – Do the actors ever bribe writers to get more lines? We can’t say what she said – but, if you’ve ever seen a corpulent comedy writer, you already know the answer.

Nic.Andrea.StuAndrea Abbate, Nicolas Wright and Stuart “reflect” on the show.

Young actor Nicolas Wright was up next. Nicolas is Canadian, which makes him exotic, interesting, and possibly a Communist. (Hey, isn’t Stu Canadian? We’re calling a Mountie just to check if he’s on a milk carton.)

On Accidentally on Purpose, Nic plays Davis, a freeloading associate of the show’s lead character, Billie.

Nic.SkateboardNicolas plays the “slap skateboard” – angry letters from Victor Wooten followed. (Just Google “Victor Wooten Bass”)

Nicolas talked about getting started in acting, getting to L.A., and he brought TONS of SWAG - including several shooting signed scripts, 4 signed photos of the cast and, a working skateboard, that’s not only been used on the first 8 episodes, but was also signed by the show’s actors.

These prizes were given away to chat roomers who could answer Nic’s trivia questions about the show. Rumors abound that John Fulton used a series of chat room surrogates to claim several of the gifts; the LFTF Investigative Unit is currently conducting inquiries and taking DNA samples from cans of Evo to ascertain the truth.

John.11.3.09John Fulton thinks about which John Mayer song to rip off. At least it wasn’t “Your body is a wonderland”

Stu.LeynaActress Leyna Weber teaches Stu how to properly do the pottery scene from “Ghost”

Show number two got off to a kicking start – literally – with energetic guest Leyna Weber. She’s the star of the web series “Road to the Altar”, playing a stressed bride-to-be getting hitched to Jaleel White (Urkel in “Family Matters”). She also taught the Thriller dance, leading LFTF ace Producer LV, TheStream.TV’s Chloe and the ever-flexible Jessie.

Jessie.ThinkingJessie wonders if “going commando” was a good idea after doing the Thriller dance.

Last (and definitely least – kidding, Hal!), it was time to EAT with actor and self-taught gourmet Hal B. Klein. Hal plays interesting characters in such films as Bottle Shock and Nobel Son, but is also a pretty deep character himself. He’s a self-professed history geek and a proficient cook in his free moments (Check out his website Thismanskitchen.com)

We made him prove his history geekitude in a rousing round of ‘Stache or not?, in which the object was, to identify which U.S. Presidents had facial hair. John and Stu made a wager to see if Hal was THAT good – John said: “Yes” and Stu said “No way!” Who won?!

Hal.B.Klein.CookingHal B Klein making organic basil-pesto sauce on LIVE! From the future…

Jessie.Loving.ItHal inquired whether or not Jessie wanted to taste his “sauce”.

Tonight: DOUBLE SHOW Tuesday! Nicolas Wright, Andrea Abbate & Hal B. Klein, Leyna Weber!

Remember those old Doublemint gum commercials? The ones with the pretty twins singing jingles about doubling your pleasure, doubling your fun? Okay, neither do we, actually – there are probably too many long evenings, brutal hangover mornings and dates with the bong in college between then and now to remember much of anything. At any rate, Double will be the word of the night on Tuesday when we have not uno but dos shows for your delectation and amusement

nov3rd_Final

- one at our usual time of 8pm, and at 9PM. Not only that, but each show will have (cue hot twins singing, uh, “double double” something) a pair of guests. That’s a grand total of four guests in one night!

First and second up are Nicolas Wright and Andrea Abbate. Nicolas, once upon a time (i.e. 2004) the winner of “Best Newcomer” in the “Just for Laughs” festival, is an up-and-coming actor featured on the up-and-coming new CBS sitcom Accidentally on Purpose. Nicolas plays Davis, a freeloading associate of the show’s lead Billie (Jenna Elfman, who the “elite” LFTF research department is convinced might have been one of the Doublemint Twins). Nicolas previously acted in movies such as Circle of Friends and The Greatest Game Ever Played, in addition to producing, directing, writing and starring in his own short film, Toutouffe. Speaking of Accidentally on Purpose, we also have one of the show’s writer/producers with us, the lovely and dangerously funny Andrea Abbate. In addition to her adventures in TV land, Andrea is a gifted comedienne, actress and writer, contributing her talents to many offline and online media. These include stand-up comedy (you can see clips of her on FunnyOrDie.com, for example) theater (Andrea authored the play “Random Acts of Kindness”) and varied and extremely funny writings, many of which can be found on her web site andreaabbate.com.

Once the first show wraps, Stu, Jessie and The Fulron will retreat to their respective trailers, get expensive massages, drink a glass of vino or six, and return to the studio for episode #2. This edition will feature another pair of talents, actors Hal B. Klein and Leyna Weber. You’ve seen or will see Hal in movies such as Bottle Shock and the very-soon-to-be-released Jack and the Beanstalk, but he’s also got another talent he puts to good use – cooking. In fact, Hal’s got his own online cooking program and blog, www.thismanskitchen.com, in which he de-mystified the art of cuisine and makes it okay for guys to serve offerings like spicy lemon sherbert. He’s so good, he can even teach Stu how to concoct a dish or two, which he’ll be doing live on-air.

Meanwhile, his co-guest for the hour, Leyna Weber, is a young but already highly experienced actor from Long Island (which happens to be Your Humble Blog Author’s native landmass too, wheee!). She currently appears in the hit web series Road to the Altar starring her and Jaleel White (Urkel from Family Matters), and will be featured in the upcoming mystery/thriller Pig. Which, coincidentally, is the same name as the raw ingredient occasionally used by Hal in his cooking show. Oof, we’re getting hungry again. Can you tell we’ve been eating too much surplus Halloween candy? Bring on the meat and carbohydrates, folks, it’s gonna get tasty in here.

Got questions for Nicolas/Andrea/Hal/Leyna? Shoot ‘em right ‘chere.

Live! From the Future… with Stuart Paap has one of them newfangled websites those young whippersnappers are always going on about.

Wrap: Director Ti West and Actress Ashley Palmer!

On Tuesday, October 27th at 8PM – LIVE! From the Future…with Stuart Paap! welcomed Ti West, Director of “The House of the Devil” and Ashley Palmer, actress from “Paranormal Activity”.

Watch This Episode on www.theStream.tv

First, Ti West joins us; Ti is a precocious young filmmaker who’s made 4 feature films – and he’s not even 30! His latest film, “The House of the Devil” (in theaters Friday, Oct. 30th and on VOD now) is a throwback to old school horror flix from the ’80’s, when Satanic rituals were all the rage. In the movie, college student Samantha Hughes (Jocelin Donahue) tries to pick up a quick $400 to babysit a house; then, all goes… to HELL!

2.R2.Ti.Smiling

Ti West, imagining how he’d slaughter Stu in a horror movie. Spoiler Alert! He’d do it slowly using a battery and nipple clamps.

3.R2.Ti.Autographs

Ti autographs a few “House of the Devil” shirts for fans. (Note: real blood)

4.R2.ASK

“Anonymous Serial Killer” played a mean set of keys. I asked him where John Fulron was – he had no comment – about anything. All night.

1.R2.Ashley.Palmer

Next up, the effervescent Ashley Palmer joins us to talk about her hit movie “Paranormal State” – the low budget thriller that is tearing up the box office. She wrapped production over three years ago, but they are killing all the competition thanks to scary-but-believable scenarios about exorcisms.

We also play: “Body Count High” – she has to guess which movies have higher body counts; and let’s not forget “Horror or Porno?” – a fairly self-explanatory game.

We wrap up Ashley’s interview with the 60 second gauntlet – and we’re out!

5.R2.Jessie.Smiling

Jessie “Slitherman” was serving up cold-blooded IM’s all night – then, she shed her snuggie-skin, ate a hamster and bounced.

6.R2.Pumpkins.Desk

The tiny skulls of all our former guests. At least they’re happy!

7.R2.TI.Stu.Talk

Ti explains what it’s like to hold a human skull while Stu contemplates when his horns have to go back to West Hollywood.

8.R2.Stu.Jessie.AshleyMissing: 1 Ronnie James Dio. Nevertheless, sweet album cover, right?

Special Thanks:

Miriam Urizar for the amazing makeup

Lawrence Anthony for most of the above photos

Producer LV for additional photos, getting decorations, twittering during the show and all her hard work every week

Brad “ASK” Watson for the music – it was (ahem) KILLER!

Arianne Ayers and Jason Stoff from Magnolia Pictures for Ti and the merch for giveaways!

And of course, Jared, Brian, Chloe, Jessie, John, Eric, Dave and everyone who helps on the show – it’s a group effort.

TONIGHT: Director Ti West “The House of the Devil” and “Paranormal Activity’s” Ashley Palmer!

So it’s the bloody time of the year again, the season to dust off the old VHS copy of Halloween and buy lots of candy corn so the evil kids in the neighborhood don’t toilet paper your house. Likewise for us at Live! From the Future… the upcoming spook holiday means one thing – horror horror HORROR and plenty of it. For our guest is (cue minor-chord Gothic pipe organ) a rising star of everyone’s favorite blood-stained genre, film director Ti West.

Ti West

Ti’s most recent effort is the upcoming The House of the Devil, a 1980s-style (and set) slasher pic that has been receiving positive notices from the horror cognoscenti as an intelligent, well-paced shocker. Not yet 30 years old, Ti already has several film credits as a director, and is currently busy with his next project, The Haunting in Georgia.

Also, Ashley Palmer from Paramount Studios’ hit movie: Paranormal Activity. Asheley began her acting career at age five when she played the title role in a community production of Chicken Little. Since then, she has received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting/Musical Theatre and has captured the attention of audiences on the New York stage, film festivals, and primetime television shows on FOX, HBO, E! and the Style Network.

Rumors that Stu and Jessie will appear in costume with graphically realistic oozing wounds appear at the moment to be unfounded. But you never know, strange things happen on Halloween – we might even be funny! Heh heh. Just a joke Stu, please don’t fire us.

Wrap: “My Antonio” Antonio Sabato Jr and “Curb’s” Larry Guli!

Reality TV star/Co-Executive Producer, Soap Star, Calvin Klein model and Chef(?) Antonio Sabato Jr. from VH1’s “My Antonio” and Larry Guli of Curb Your Enthusiasm stop by to talk brain teasers, golf, artillery, beautiful women and Italian Meat Sauce!

(*If you want information on Ti West, Director of “The House of the Devil” who is our guest this Tuesday, October 27th at 8PM, check back here by Monday, October 26th.)

Watch This Episode on www.theStream.tv!

In this special edition of Live! From the Future... (if you’re paying attention, we aired on Friday instead of our usual Tuesday) because both our two guests – Antonio Sabato Jr. and Larry Guli - will have big TV moments coming up tonight, Sunday, October 25th.

First up was Larry, who is quite possibly the first former army artillery officer/ace softball player/investment banker/golf pro to make it in the acting world. As if his former professions hadn’t provided enough challenge and stimulation, Larry decided to go into show business after his retirement. So much for taking it easy in the golden years – Larry’s been busy ever since, playing a recurring role on General Hospital and, most recently, appearing as the latest foil to Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry’s episode will appear tonight at 9PM on HBO!

pic6

Actor, Investor, good guy Larry Guli gets uncomfortable when Stu asks him if he wouldn’t mind a casual Greco-Roman wrestling match after the show. The answer was “No!”

Larry’s impressive resume didn’t intimidate Stu, who actually believed he might be able to match wits with MENSA member Larry in a brain teaser contest. We’re too dumb to remember the actual question; regardless, Larry got it correct within seconds while Stu took the better part of several minutes to guess it completely wrong.

pic2The audience figures out the brain teaser minutes, if not hours, before the show’s host

Next up was Antonio, whose big secret will be revealed TONIGHT! – Sunday night, October 25th at 10PM on VH1. We tried, oh yes we tried, to get him to tell us the winner on “My Antonio” but our guest was too discreet for that (not to mention bound by solid non-disclosure agreements).

pic3
Antonio expresses his true feelings about his host in Italian. Luckily, Stu speaks only English and rudimentary Urdu.

Watch Antonio Sabato Jr. speak Italian on www.theStream.tv

In addition to his current reality effort, Antonio is a veteran actor, appearing in General Hospital (are you sensing a pattern here?) and many other TV shows and movies, the latest being the title role in the crime drama Drifter: Henry Lee Lucas for which he won a Best Actor award at the Beverly Hills Film Festival! He told us about these experiences, as well as his formative years in L.A. (his father, also an actor, moved the family to the U.S. when Antonio was a young man).

pic4Jessie Schneiderman is the winner of our “Best Antonio-baiting Costume” award for the evening. John, a distant second, sulks in the corner.

In fact, Antonio didn’t speak any English at all before arriving on these shores. To prove it, he even gave us a few lines in Italian. Did he actually reveal the name of his new sweetheart from My Antonio during this exchange? Probably not, but we like to fantasize that we got the scoop.

pic5Antonio reverts to English; luckily he didn’t throw any brain teasers Stu’s way

We also talked about our guest’s hobbies, which include a passion for racing cars (and doing so on three continents) gymnastics and, most tastily, cooking. Due to LFTF’s lack of kitchen facilities – the microwave and the barrel of Grapevines in the lobby don’t count – we unfortunately couldn’t get Antonio to give us an on-air demonstration, but he did detail his recipe for genuine Italian meat sauce (which is built from capers, carrots, lots of garlic, olive oil, meat and tomato sauce). As the studio audience, Stu, Fulron and Jessie alternated salivating over the recipe and over Antonio himself, we brought the show to a close.

Buon Appetito from all of us, and see you at the dinner table… uh, the next show (which, by the way, will be on our usual Tuesday evening, in this case October 27).

TONIGHT: Antonio Sabato Jr. from “My Antonio”, 8PM PST, TheStream.TV

This Sunday following, the hit reality show My Antonio will broadcast its finale. Why are we telling you this? Because we’ve got the show’s namesake star, Antonio Sabato Jr., as our guest TONIGHT and we just have to brag about it. We’ll try all sorts of subterfuge and cajoling to get him to reveal his final choice of mate on the show (NOTE: multi-million dollar bribery from the LFTF Swiss bank account and promises to sign Antonio to the lead role in the upcoming John Fulton biopic have failed to dislodge the secret. Any better suggestions will be gratefully received).

Antonio banner

Whether we find out or not, we’ll sure have a lot of fun trying. Along the way, Stu, returning to the hosting desk after a one-week absence will have the usual hijinks and fun, and will even challenge Antonio to a push-up contest. Uh, good luck on that one, Stu. Also live and loving it will be the Fulron and Jessie Schneiderman, who strenuously (and almost believably) denies trying out for both My Antonio and that new reality show with Lorenzo Lamas and his kids.

Don’t forget, circus fans, our Antonio show is on a special night – FRIDAY (October 23).

Update: Antonio Sabato Jr. from My Antonio this FRIDAY on LFTF

The Sunday following our next episode, the hit reality show My Antonio will broadcast its finale. Why are we telling you this? Because we’ve got the show’s namesake star, Antonio Sabato Jr., as our guest and we just have to brag about it. Upcoming: Antonio Sabato Jr. from “My Antonio” 10.23.09 8PM!

After a fun show with John Fulton substituting in the host’s chair, we’re gonna get even funner with the return of Stu to said piece of furniture. We have a single guest for our upcoming episode, but what a guest – Antonio Sabato Jr., from VH1’s hot reality show My Antonio.

Antonio banner

In My Antonio, set on the Big Island in Hawaii, the titular actor has to whittle a crop of 14 lovely women down to one single mate. Gosh, some guys have the toughest jobs. The first season of the show is currently airing. In addition to his Hawaiian adventure, Antonio is a veteran actor who has logged many hours in front of the camera. Among his notable roles is Dante Damiano on the durable CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. He previously got soapy for several years as a cast member of General Hospital, later reprising his character in the spinoff series General Hospital: Night Shift. In addition, he has played recurring characters and made guest appearances on many top TV shows, including the original Melrose Place, NCIS, Charmed and Ally McBeal. His movie resume is similarly crowded, and Antonio has also occupied the producer’s chair on more than one filmic effort. Now if all of the above doesn’t qualify a man to win the heart of a beautiful female on a Hawaiian island, I don’t know what does.

Speaking of beautiful women, Stu… uh, whoops, I don’t think he wants that cross-dressing lounge singer secret to get out quite yet… anyway, Stu will be brandishing a fresh Canadian tan after his working break in the Great White North and will be primed and ready to resume his hosting duties. John Fulton will return to the music director chair while covetously eyeballing the host’s chair, and Jessie Schnooterman, complete with her patented Jewbs, will hold down the IM unit.

Needless to say, we’ll also feature the usual menu of gags n’ games and interview fun. See you online for the festivities, but don’t forget, this one airs on a special night – Friday, to be exact (that’s October 23 for you calendar-heads).

Wrap: John Fulton hosts Zoë Roché and Matt Zane

John Fulton guest hosts! We survive (and even thrive) with guests Zoë Roché and Matt Zane.

So the dust has settled, the weapons have been put away, the lawyers have drafted their initial settlement agreements and all in all, John Fulton’s first bout of substitute hosting Live! From the Future… went shockingly well. Nevertheless, the ghostly presence of Stu, steaming with near-psychotic jealousy, attempted to sabotage the effort by invading the studio and breaking the D string on John’s guitar. Our brave host for the evening was undeterred, however, and rolled on with the show with the help of the ever-vivacious Jessie Schneiderpants and our new friend Zach Johnson, who held the co-hosting job for the evening.

PicZoeNow what kind of self-respecting Tamagotchee wouldn’t love a songwriter like Zoë?

After a very convincing series of opening bits – which included a five-point rundown of why he was better qualified to host the show than Stu – John welcomed his first guest, the lovely songstress Zoë Roché. Zoë has been in the musicologist business for a looooong time, and is one of the youngest songwriters ever to get credit for music composition in a feature film. These days, she’s half of the rock/electronica duo Looner with her husband Angel. She visited us at the very end of Looner’s 2009 tour, which covered 31 cities throughout these United States. In her interview, she detailed her love for the band’s tour vehicle, the “SUV-marine”, told us about the inspiration for their song “I Love My Tamagotchee!”, and welcomed Angel to the interview floor for a interrogation question or two from John.

PicMattMatt straps on a meat hook… uh, lav mike … to tell us about music, porn and yoga.

Next up was musician/author/ex-pornographer Matt Zane. John showed a disturbing fascination with Matt’s funky new haircut, but also managed somehow to ask him more legitimate questions. Among these were a set of queries about Matt’s propensity to sing live with his band Society 1 while suspended from meat hooks thrust deep into his back (and we showed the video to prove it). As if that wasn’t interesting enough, we also delved into a discussion of Matt’s recent writing activities, namely his “moral self-help book”, Doctrines of the Infernal Process. For those that like a little yoga to go along with their 21st century Satanism, we also displayed a series of pictures showing Matt bending into painful-looking yoga positions.

PicZach

Zach, as contemplative and philosophical as John isn’t.

Our interviews concluded, John took the show to the finish line in an awe-inspiring display of his deep inferiority complex… uh, we mean he played a rousing rendition of his exit theme song for the night, the disarmingly modest “I Was the Host With the Most”.

PicJohnZoeAngelZoë, John and Angel react to the news that Stu is returning next week, hell bent for revenge.

We’ll leave Stu and John to argue and axe-fight it out over who’s the better host for the show. In the meantime, we’re getting ready for our next guest, reality TV star Antonio Sabato Jr. He’ll be discussing the upcoming finale of his dating reality show My Antonio with Stu, who returns to host in this special LFTF to be broadcast on a different than normal date for us – Friday, specifically October 23.

Upcoming: Crystle and Lisa of TEASE and Derek from Secret Girlfriend!

This Tuesday, October 6th we are hosting a threesome of fabulous guests. If you thought last week was heating up, with The State of Law losing his pants, we thought we would one up ourselves for our loyal fans (hey Telemundo). All I know is that Stu called me inquiring about a stripper pole…

Joining us from the new Fox pilot and web series Tease, we have Lisa Jay and Crystal Lea Lightning. This original dramedy gives us an inside look at the exotic dancing profession, with Lisa Jay playing Marie, the newbie to the strip club, learning rapidly from the pros like Crystal Lea Lightning.

October 6, 2009

Crystal Lea Lightning, not to be confused with the 5-calorie drink, is a First Nations actress and model. For those die hard fans of the 3 Ninjas movie series (i.e. my sister) you know her as “Jo” in the 1995 movie 3 Ninjas Knuckle Up. In 2005, she played “Chloe” in the American Pie presents: Band Camp. Her most notable role is her portrayal of solider Lori Piestewa in Saving Jessica Lynch.

Lisa Jay has been around from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Everybody Hates Chris. She stars in an upcoming feature film Spring Break ’83, alongside John Goodman and Joey Pantoliano. While not lighting up the big screen, Lisa participates in humanitarian efforts with the non-profit organization No Kidding, Me Too that works to remove social stigmas related to brain dis-ease.

That is not all folks, we also have Derek Miller from Comedy Central’s Secret Girlfriend premiering Oct. 7th at 10:30pm. This guy is no stranger to the industry with appearances in Scrubs, Mad TV, and Comedy Central’s Crossballs. Derek was also the creator and star in Fremantle’s hit web series, Every Hipster and Atomic Zoo. You can catch him performing regularly in the critically-acclaimed IO West improvised musical, Opening Night.

The studio is pretty much going to be at maximum capacity once we squeeze in everyone and Stu’s big head. Don’t miss out. We promise there is a lil’ sumtin’ sumtin’ for everyone.

If you have any questions for Crystal Lea Lightning, Lisa Jay, or Derek Miller, drop ‘em here!
