Why Don’t Movies Take Place In CANADA That Are Filmed There

Brandon Wettig writes: Hello AMC. Love the show! My question is about filmmaking in Canada. As a current film student at Capilano University in Vancouver, I love it when big hollywood movies are shot here (X2, Mission Impossible 4, Tron Legacy, Fantastic Four). Now, my question is why aren’t movies that are filmed in Canada take place in Canada? It seems to be that we have to disguise Canada to look like the United States when sometimes it isn’t necessary. Now I know there are some exceptions like the films I listed before, but why don’t films take place in Canada when they are shot here? What are your thoughts? Thanks!
