Mail Bag Question:
Spencer Bernard writes: ‘m a recent subscriber to the show and watch it everyday now. I’m a big fan of the original novel World War Z by Max Brooks and was excited when the rights were optioned by Brad Pitt’s Plan B. At the time it reportedly cost them somewhere in the high six figures. Seven years later the movie comes out and has absolutely nothing in common with the book other then the title. Was it really worth the money for them to buy the rights for the title alone? Why not just make their own Brad Pitt zombie movie and save the money? I understand that in adapting a novel not everything that works in the book will work in a movie but tossing out everything to make an generic zombie action movie just seemed ridiculous to me. Any insights to how this happened? Thanks again and keep up the good work.
