Spirits of Westeros- Dirty Cersei

Welcome to Spirits of Westeros where host, Jessica Kinney, helps you combine the love of Game of Thrones with the love of alcohol.

This weeks drink is the Dirty Cersei.  It’s named for Cersei Lannister who is always playing the game, but always plays it dirty.  She is making enemies faster than a favorite character gets killed on the show!

Cersei is the Queen mother of Tommen Baratheon.  She had an older son Joffrey who met his demise last season in a way too quick and painless death at his wedding to Margaery Tyrell.  Her only daughter Myrcella is in Dorne and promised to Trystane Martell.  All three of her children have the last name Baratheon, but in fact are all pure-bred Lannisters, meaning that they are the incest children of Cersei and her brother, Jaime.  She was queen for a while when she was married to Robert Baratheon after he took the Iron throne from the Targaryens.  She never loved him though so she asked Lancel Lannister to give him too much wine while hunting and he was killed by a boar.  She has been the Queen Mother ever since.  She is using Lancel again to get rid of her daughter-in-law,  and the Queen, Margaery Tyrell.  She is a master manipulator and usually gets what she wants.  If a spicy and hearty drink is what you want, here’s what you’ll need:

3 oz Vodka

¾ oz Sweet vermouth

¼ oz Dry vermouth

A few dashes of tobacco

3 stuffed olives

You are going to put all the liquids in to a glass with ice.  Stir until its cold and then strain into your glass.  Garnish with 3 stuffed olives (stuffing of your choice) and enjoy.

As you drink this and then eat off the olives, imagine being Cersei losing her power and her children one by one.  As the witch in the beginning of the season said, her children would have golden crowns and golden shrouds.  Let’s see who gets their shroud next! Thanks for checking in and remember to… stay thirsty, Thronies.
