Spirits of Westeros- Jorah Gonna Enjoy This Drink

Welcome to Spirits of Westeros where host, Jessica Kinney, helps you combine the love of Game of Thrones with the love of alcohol.

Jorah Gonna Enjoy this Drink…is the name of this week’s drink.  It’s named for Jorah Mormont who has been everything from Queen’s advisor to spy to slave.

Jorah is an exiled lord who was spying on the Targaryen siblings for Varys and the Crown.  He quickly fell in love with Daenerys and his faith was restored when he saw her sitting among the ashes of a burnt funeral pyre with 3 baby dragons.  He was her right hand man for awhile and even saved her life, but Daenerys found out that he had been spying on her and ordered him to leave and dismissed him from her service.  Since then, we haven’t seen much of Jorah until he captured Tyrion Lannister in Volantis.  They were making there way back to Khaleesi when Jorah was touched by one of the Stone Men and contracted greyscale.  Soon after, Tyrion and Jorah were captured by slavers, but luckily convinced them they were worth more alive and to take them to Slaver’s Bay.  Now Jorah has to fight his way back through all odds to try and regain the trust of his love, Daenerys.  I figured with all his misfortunes, the least I could do was honor him with a drink!  If you want to honor him too, here’s what you’ll need:

2 oz Vodka

½ oz Lime juice

Ginger Beer

4 Strawberries

Agnostura Bitters

Muddle the strawberries in you shaker and then add the vodka, lime juice and ice.  Shake well and strain into your glass of ice.  Top off with ginger beer and then add a few dashes of the bitters.

As you sip on this sweet and spicy drink, think of all the hard times that have fallen on the Mormonts.  Be glad that you get to watch it on tv and it isn’t happening to you!  Thanks for checking in and remember to….stay thirsty Thronies.
